This module provides detailed information about the accreditation process and standards.  Navigating your way through this module you will find links to a number of business planning resources including a business plan specific for general practices which can be downloaded.

Other resources available include a link to a policy and procedure manual, information on how you can increase your practices income and business cases for employing a practice nurse. An area of interest also included as part of this module is a section on health promotion in general practice and men's health.

Accreditation

Have you ever wondered where to start with accreditation, particularly how to sort through the myriad of information to find exactly what you are looking for? As part of the SMART PRACTICE 2 program, ERGPA has sifted through the information to provide you with some helpful links and resources.

Practices are assessed against standards provided by the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners (RACGP).  The standards are developed by the RACGP in consultation with GPs Australia wide.  The Federal Government offers a PIP for accredited practices.

This model emphasizes the role of the GP as a manager of organizational systems rather than a medical practitioner.  It assists GPs to identify systems that are in place and others that should be, includes an awareness-raising component and culminates in the development of a strategic Health Promotion Plan for their practice
